Malkangiri, 26/9/25:- District Advisory Committee meeting was held today in the conference room of Additional District Collector under the instructions of District Collector Somesh Kumar Upadhyay. The meeting was chaired by Additional District Collector Somnath Pradhan. In this meeting, all the ultrasounds in the district were ordered to be checked regularly and other illegal clinics should be checked. Many measures have been taken by the administration to prevent the illegal practice of sex determination in the district.
It was discussed in the meeting that the number of both men and women could be prevented. The additional district commissioner emphasized on expanding the process being implemented by the advisory committee to prevent female foeticide and to monitor the organizations that commit female foeticide. The District Advisory Committee on Pre-Conception and Antenatal Diagnosis Act has asked the ultrasound center in the district to be inspected. District Chief Medical and Public Health Officer Da Dolamani Pradhan, Dr Chaudhuri Nihar Ranjan Prahraj, Dr Brajbandhu Das, Additional Superintendent Rashmi Ranjan Captain, District Information and Public Relations Officer Pramila Majhi, DMRCH Surya Pratap Mahamansingh, Social Worker Jayanthi Buruda and ADPHC Shyam Sundar Majhi attended the meeting. Assistant Manager Surya Mohapatra introduced and moderated the meeting.
