Kalimela 16/11 (Fast News Odisha): District-level National Press Day has been organized at Kalimela on behalf of Uttarakhand Press Association Malkangari District. A special program was organized at Kalimela Block Forest Department Guest House on this occasion. It was presided over by Ashok Mishra, president of the District Uttar Pradesh Journalists Federation, and Malkangari MLA Narsingh Madkami attended as the chief guest. Similarly, Block Vice President Subhasini Sodhi was the guest of honor, District Information and Public Relations Officer Pramila Majhi was the chief speaker, Kalimela Vidya Pradeep Kara was one of the guests, Tehsildar Ramakrishna Sathyarajgur, Ex-MLA Mukund Sodhi, Ambushman Narasingh Charan Mohanty, Police Station Officer Mukund Melka, District Uttarakhand Journalist Federation Editor B Srinivasa Pan, Vice President Prashant Sahu, Treasurer Hrishikesh, Acting President Niranjan Malla, Kalimela Block President Satya Narayan Subudhi were the main organizers. Justice in the society is possible through transparent news service. Therefore, there is a need to investigate the truth while serving the media, said MLA Mr. Madkami, who was the chief guest on the occasion of the National Press Day held under the chairmanship of Ashok Mishra, president of the Uttarakhand Press Association at Kalimela Forestry Guest House. He further said that the media, which plays the role of watchdog and fourth pillar of the society, needs to maintain ethics. Pramila Majhi, Information and Public Relations Officer, as the keynote speaker on the occasion said that for a healthy democratic nation, it should be everyone’s responsibility to provide clear information based news. On this occasion, journalism is a respectable profession, should create a true, impartial, reliable news environment to benefit the society, today’s social media has had many effects on the journalism profession, he also suggested that people can be closer to the people through impartial and truth-based news. This year, the Press Council of India discussed the topic of safeguarding media credibility in the context of increasing spread of fake news. Bhagwan Sahu, a member of the Federation, delivered the welcome address and conducted the programme. At the end, Saurabh Mandal, a member of the federation, was thanked. Journalists and eminent persons have been specially honored for their outstanding work done by the members. District Senior Journalist Ratnakar Das, Durga Prasad Patnaik, Gopi Krishna Patnaik were felicitated by Federation for their meritorious work and contribution to journalism. Along with this, war journalists Vikram Swayum, Deepak Maharana, Abinash Behera, Rahul Golari Pramukh, who were arrested while serving the truth, were also honored. More than 80 members of the Federation were present in this program.
