Kandhamal, (Fast News Odisha): National Highway No. 157 passing through Kandhamal district on the afternoon of Tuesday 16th Tuesday in the Kalinga Ghat was completely washed away due to a landslide in the heavy rains and a huge hole of 40/50 feet was created. From Wednesday, National Highways Department officials reached the spot and took stock of the situation, and the work has started. For the people of Kandhamal district, this Ghati road is a lifeline, but now Kandhamal district has been separated from Ganjam district due to natural calamity.

After 42 hours of the incident, on Thursday afternoon, Kandhamal District Collector Ved Bhushan reached the landslide site of Kelingaghati and held talks with the National Highways officials. This year, while there has been more rain, there has been such a landslide due to heavy rains, but fortunately, there has been no loss of life or property. Now Tikabali, Chakapad road will be used as alternative road to go to Brahampur. The temporary road will be constructed for vehicular traffic within 7 to 10 days after analyzing the weather and rain conditions as much as possible. Later, permanent road work will be done as per the conditions. Zilapal said that all the necessary permissions will be given to NH department officials for the construction of this Ghati road.
