Malkangiri, 3/9/25: An awareness train has been launched by the Malkangiri district emergency department in collaboration with the state disaster management authority to avoid the sudden danger of lightning. This chariot will go around all the urban areas and village panchayats to spread the message to the people to be safe from lightning. In order to protect the house from lightning, installing lightning resistant conductors, hearing the sound of thunder, run from an open place as soon as possible into a paved house, run into a vehicle with a thick sheet roof such as a car, bus, etc., keep windows and doors closed while inside the house, remove metal objects from the head and body, and stay as low as possible. The train will give warning messages about standing bare-headed or hearing the sound reflected from nearby rocks to leave the place immediately, get out of the water or boat as quickly as possible to the shore and move to a safe place, keep pets indoors if there is a possibility of lightning, etc. Among others, District Emergency Officer Muna Turuk, Assistant District Collector Elections Ashok Chakraborty and other staff members of the District Collector’s office were present. Emergency Department Senior Revenue Assistant Kuna Nayak assisted in organizing the program.
