Malkangiri, 30/11/25: The district level Maliwant festival has been launched. Under the direction and supervision of District Collector Somesh Kumar Upadhyay, the district-level Malyavant Festival Kalas Yatra has been held. District Council Chairperson Samari Tangulu, Malkangari Block Chairperson Gauri Madiami, Chittagong Block Chairperson Rajeshwari Khil, Korukunda Block Chairperson Jitu Burudi, Balimela Notified Area Council Chairperson Pradeep Naik, Additional District Administrator Somnath Pradhan, Additional District Administrator Rajsab Vedbar Pradhan, District Council Chief Development Officer and Executive Officer Naresh Chandra Shabar, Deputy District Administrator Ashni AL, MP representative Sanjay Sarkar was present. On this occasion, the Malyavant festival poster has been unveiled. Kalas Pujan and Kalas Sobhayatra were organized at Bhairav Temple. Kalas procession from Bhairava temple was taken to the local Jagannath temple through dance songs. After worshiping the kalas, the kalas are kept in the Jagannath temple. It is informed that Malyavant Festival will be celebrated from 14th to 18th December. District Information and Public Relation Officer Pramila Majhi, District Culture Officer Santras Narayan Panda, District Social Security Officer Nirmal Dharua including Vidyo, Tehsildar, Public Representative and Festival Committee members were present on this occasion. Local CDPO Smt. Rekha and mothers of Self Help Groups performed Pujarachna and Rangoli for this procession. Municipal Council Executive Officer Rajeev Lochan Naik prepared and supervised other related arrangements. Self help group women, college students and local public took part in the procession.
