In order to closely observe the problems of the villagers in inaccessible and remote areas of Kandhamal district and to review the status of the government plans, Kandhamal District Collector Ved Bhushan visited the remote hilly areas on Saturday by bike. Leaving the current road, the District Collector reached remote villages like Gurlimaska and Germal under Tumudibandha block by bike. Crossing forests, hills and bumpy roads, the District Collector’s visit created a sense of hope and reassurance among the people. After reaching the village, the District Collector had a direct discussion with the villagers. People expressed their grievances to the District Magistrate regarding basic problems such as lack of roads, lack of drinking water, lack of drinking water, lack of electricity, health care, education and housing. Many villagers said that they could not get the benefits of the government scheme properly due to the accessibility. Taking this seriously, the District Collector assured that he would record all the problems and direct the concerned department to take immediate action. The unexpected visit of the District Collector and his direct contact with the villagers was very much welcomed by the people. The villagers hoped that many long-standing problems would be resolved by reaching the inaccessible areas themselves and assessing the position of the administrative officers.
