Malkangiri, 19/3/26: Commissioner of Women and Child Development Department and Administrative Secretary Dr Mrinalini Dhal visited Malkangiri district today and reviewed various departmental plans. His visit is considered as a positive step to accelerate the delivery of services at the grassroots level. During this visit, he participated as the chief guest in the nutrition target workshop organized at the district council conference room. On this occasion, the commissioner said that we are making continuous efforts to improve the nutritional status of children in Malkangiri district through the nutrition mission. He expressed his happiness that good coordination is being maintained between the Department of Women and Child Development and the Department of Health to achieve this goal in Malkangiri district. The commissioner visited Matheli block and reviewed the nutrition situation there. He visited Anganwadi Centers there and reviewed the quality of food provided to the children and the infrastructure there. As many Anganwadi Centers are running in rented houses, he also directed to speed up construction of new government housing for them. He advised the officials to achieve the target of malnutrition free Odisha by 2029. The Secretary visited the Nutrition Rehabilitation Center (NRC) on the premises of the District Head Hospital to understand the health condition of the children and inspected the facilities available there. He also visited the Sakhi Center working for the protection and support of women and expressed satisfaction with the services provided to the victims. During the visit, Dr. Dhal said, “It is our priority that every scheme of the government for the development of women and children reaches the last beneficiaries.” In addition, he ordered the strengthening of Anganwadi centers and transparency in the process of distribution of nutritious food. In this review meeting, District Magistrate Nathash Arvind Rajashirke, Additional District Magistrate Rajsab Vedbar Pradhan, District Council Chief Development Officer and Executive Officer Dasharthi Sarabu, Deputy District Magistrate Duryadhan Bhoi, Chief District Medical Officer Da Dolamani Pradhan were present. The program has been organized under the supervision of Gauri Naik, District Social Welfare Officer. District Education Officers, District Welfare Officers, Rural Drinking Water Supply Officers, TPSODL Officers, Child Development Project Officers and Supervisors of all blocks were present among others.
