Rairangpur, 14/5 (Fast News) People visit various tourist spots and have a picnic there happily. For that reason, during this picnic season, various tourist spots or picnic spots are crowded. But regrettably, Bankbal reservoir, one of the tourist attractions of Mayurbhanj district, is now empty Bankbal Reservoir, full of unique beauty, has lost its existence due to the gross negligence of the tourism department. Built in the 1980s at the confluence of Bijtala and Bishoi blocks to supply water to agricultural fields, the Bankbal Reservoir is nearly two kilometers long and its vast watershed extends to the Shimilipal foothills.
The reservoir has six gates to drain flood water and two canals to supply water to agricultural fields. While the surrounding environment of the reservoir is breathtaking, its golden waters give the illusion of chilly water to the reservoir where hundreds of exotic birds meet in winter. However, as there is no boating facility in this vast body of water, the tourists are deprived of enjoying boating. There has been no noticeable improvement except for a few pindis for picnics on the lower side of the reservoir So besides making pindi for picnic, drinking water, toilets, garden for entertainment, electricity lighting are essential. There is also a need for a good port of call for the overnight accommodation of tourists Therefore, today the tourism department gave a demand letter to the District Magistrate through the Bamanghati Upazilapal on behalf of the Ramdoli Youth Power Association for its all-round development as well as the status of the Bankbal Reservoir as a tourist destination.
