Shubham K Mart M.B. under the special campaign on behalf of the Pink SUP team under the direction of District Collector Madhusudan Das with the aim of making Nuapada district single-use plastic (SUP) free. The mall has undergone an extensive renovation. During the campaign, more than 1 quintal of banned single-use plastic items were seized from the shop and a fine of Rs. 25,000 was levied for violating the rules. During the raids, the sale counters of the shops, warehouses and other storage areas were inspected. During the inspection, large quantities of prohibited single-use plastic materials were found to be stored and used. Later, all the prohibited items were seized and legal action was taken. Jal Bibhajika Additional Director Prabha Singh, Additional Treasury Officer Madhusmita Parija, District Labor Officer Jasmin Sahu, District Coordinator Anil Kumar Lenka, CDPO Nirupa Nag, BDO Rohit Kumar Bhoi and BRC Abinash Mohapatra were present at the meeting. The shop authorities have been given a stern warning that if such violations are repeated in future, strict action will be taken up to sealing of shops and cancellation of licences. District Collector Madhusudan Das has called upon the residents and businessmen of the district to stop the use and sale of single-use plastic and join the environmental protection campaign. The administration has said that in the coming days, the campaign will continue in a more extensive manner in order to free the entire SUP from the district.
