
Bhubaneswar/Rairangpur – 20th June 2026 Today, the 23rd installment of PM Kisan Yojana was released at Tarkeshwar, Hooghly, West Bengal, under the patronage of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi. Financial assistance of more than Rs. Out of which more than 692.86 crore rupees have been paid to the bank accounts of more than 34.64 lakh beneficiaries of Odisha. PM Kisan Yojana is a major farmer welfare scheme of the country. The financial assistance received under this scheme of the central government can be used by the farmers to purchase seeds, fertilizers, pesticides and other items required for farming. A total of Rs 6,000 per year is being provided to all eligible farmers in three equal installments. In honor of breadwinners, this day is celebrated as ‘National Farmers Celebration Day’ across the country and states. The state-level PM Kisan support function organized by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Empowerment was held at Mahtab Bhawan Town Hall, Rairangpur, Mayurbhanj District. Deputy Chief Minister and Agriculture and Farmer Empowerment, Energy Minister Mr. Kanak Bardhan Singhdeo joined the farmers and said that Odisha is a state where even in Rabi season the government is collecting paddy from the farmers at Rs 3100 per quintal. In the last two years, the farmers of the state have earned good income by growing various fruits and vegetables and exporting them abroad and making the saying “If the farmer laughs, the country laughs” come true. Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Singhdeo said that there is a risk of experiencing the effects of El Nino this year, so farmers should cultivate short duration crops. This will not affect your crop production. In addition, as per the Prime Minister’s self-reliance call, pulses and oilseeds have been suggested to be grown in larger quantities in the state. This will take Odisha towards self-sufficiency in pulses and oil and the government has promised to collect it from farmers at MSP rates. Commissioner of Agriculture and Administrative Secretary Mr. Sain Ramachandra Jacob gave the welcome address, saying that all eligible farmers should register themselves for inclusion in PM Kisan Yojana and avail the benefits of the scheme. Housing and Urban Development Minister Dr Krishnachandra Mohapatra was also present in the programme. Director of Agriculture, Mr. Shubham Saxena, attended the program and gave advice to the farmers about the PM Kisan scheme.
