Baliguda 25/026 (Fast News Odisha) An emergency meeting was held under the leadership of Baliguda Upazilapal Pranita Das and SDPO Shubham Bhosle to ensure that Rathayatra is observed peacefully. It was discussed not to use DJ sound to check pea theft and observe the ride while maintaining peace and order.
Baripada, (23/06): In order to conduct the Baripada Rathayatra-2026 this year in accordance with peace, order and traditional customs, a preparatory meeting has been held under the supervision of the district administration in the conference room of the District Collector’s office under the supervision of the district administration. In the meeting, a detailed discussion was held regarding the construction of chariots, implementation of policies, security system, electric lighting, health services, drinking water supply, sanitation, fire fighting system, traffic control and cultural programs. Emphasis was placed on maintaining coordination between all the concerned departments, the department of the deity and the servicemen to carry out all the work in a timely manner. District Governor Mr. Sai congratulated all those present and wished for everyone’s cooperation to celebrate this year’s Rath Yatra with peace and order as per the previous year’s policy. Baripada Municipal Chairman Shri Krishnananda Mohanty, Security Superintendent Shri Varun Guntapalli, Additional District Magistrate Shri Ishwar Chandra Naik, Baripada Deputy District Magistrate Mrs. Kasturi Panda Major attended the meeting. In the meeting detailed details regarding the schedule and preparation of the trip were presented. During the rally, it was decided to provide electric lighting in Baddand and other parts of the city, adequate police presence, traffic control, CCTV surveillance and volunteers to be engaged in service work. The Health Department has given the responsibility to prepare necessary health services and ambulance arrangements to the Fire Department to deal with fires and accidents. The concerned departments have been instructed to ensure cleanliness and supply of drinking water in the city and Baddand area, to completely ban the preparation and sale of Amish food in Baddand, and to keep the liquor shops closed and conduct regular inspections. In the meeting, various departmental officers, servicemen, Rath Maharana, Rath Mahapatra, Paricha and dignitaries of the city participated actively in the discussions related to Rath Yatra and presented their well thought out opinions.
Baripada, (19/06): Hon’ble President of India Mrs. Draupadi Murmu and Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will attend the grand public meeting to be held in Rairangpur. As a large number of people from different parts of the district are likely to participate in the said gathering, temporary restrictions have been imposed on the movement of goods vehicles in order to facilitate and secure the movement of all. Tomorrow from 6 am to 6 pm there will be restrictions on the movement of goods vehicles from Jharpokharia (Bambechak) to Bishoi on National Highway No. 49. Similarly, at Beshinga on National Highway No. 18, traffic restrictions have been imposed from 6:00 am to 10:00 am. During this period, cargo vehicles will be stopped at Jharpokharia (Bambechak), Baishinga and Bishoi. During this arrangement, concerned motorists and general public are requested to cooperate with the administration and follow the instructions issued.
Baripada, (15/06): On the occasion of Somnath Swaviman festival, 30 pilgrims from Mayurbhanj district joined the pilgrimage program organized from 15th to 21st of this month to visit the holy Somnath Dham. In the inaugural program organized by the district administration, Additional District Collector Mr. Bhukabandhu Naik launched the trip by showing the flag. Addressing the inaugural meeting, Shri Nayak said that the Somnath Swaviman festival is not just a pilgrimage, but a beautiful amalgamation of devotion, spirituality and cultural heritage. Through such journeys, people can strengthen their spiritual consciousness and connect more closely with the rich cultural and religious traditions of India. It also strengthens the sense of social justice, moral values and national unity. He further said that India’s ancient religious and cultural traditions have created a unique identity for the country in the world. Such a trip will be very helpful in preserving and propagating this tradition and developing spiritual values among the new generation. Assistant Collector Mansi Tarai was also present in the program and greeted the passengers and wished them a healthy, safe and prosperous journey. Baripada – 02/06/2026 The 6th annual drama festival organized by the Baripada artistes family in the local Martyrs Memorial Hall was staged on the 2nd evening under the chairmanship of the president of the I family Satsy Mohanty. Actor director Dhir Basha inaugurated the program and wished success for the festival. Editor Asit Giri gave the vote of thanks while Somnath Singh conducted the stage. Ms. Pragya acted in music with Sarbeswar Panje, stage design by Narasingh Barik, co-direction by Nikita Mohanty and Karthik Chandra Behera, lighting by Aniket Da, stage management by Himanshu Sahu, and dance by Dekananda Panje and Sathi. Baripada: In protest against the recent women’s protection bill (Women’s Empowerment Act-2026) in the Parliament by the Congress, BJ, TMC, DMK, etc., a mass agitation women’s march has been organized here on Monday. A large number of women took part in the mass protest procession which started from the local Madhuban Madhya Pradesh and went to Chhau Madhya Pradesh. The marchers were seen holding placards with this slogan in their hands, protesting against women’s power and political parties opposing the Women’s Bill. Malkangiri, 16/4/26: A grand Subhadra Shakti Women Empowerment Awareness Walk was successfully held today from Malkangiri District Collector’s office premises to Kult Bhawan. Organized with the aim of social change and empowerment of women, the program was launched by the district council chairperson Samari Tangulu and the district mayor Nagash Arvind Rajashirke. After the march, an awareness meeting was held at Kultur Bhawan, where the District Collector and District Council Chairperson addressed the women present. Baripada – Ta – 11/04/2026 Rik Baripada, Ward No. 15 Purunchandrapur, Kalas procession has started today on the occasion of the annual puja of Ma’ Lalpat Salpat Gramdevi. Ritual puja ceremony was completed at the confluence of Chipat, Bushablang and Itayodi rivers near the temple of Ma’ Ambika. More than a hundred women reached the Gramdevi temple in a procession. The temple committee has announced that there will be a program of worshiping and chanting the name of the mother for three days. On the last day, arrangements have been made to distribute prasad to the public.
Baripada – 10/04/2026 3-day Mamed Beeuri Festival organized by Durya-Saraswati Cultural Council and Fine Artist Club Anukuli at Rich Local Martyrs Memorial Hall – 2026 has been launched. On the last evening, Kakoli Nandi and Krishna Das acted in the play “Marichikar Chai” written and directed by Kshirod Sit. At the beginning of the play, chief coordinator of the council, Kshirod Bihari Sit presided over the opening ceremony.
