
Baripada, Gaur Dasgiri (26/05): The district administration Mayurbhajan felicitated sand artist Mr. Dasarath Mahant and international women rugby players Parvati Hasda and Aarti Murmu for their outstanding achievements in a valedictory function. He was given this promotion by the district administration for bringing glory to the arts and sports of the district at the national and international level. Additional District Collector Mr. Bhukabandhu Naik attended the program as the chief guest and honored the talented artists by giving them Uttaraniya and trees. In his speech, he said that the talents of Mayurbhanj are bringing glory to the state and country with their skills and hard work. He said that their success will inspire the youth of the district to grow in sports and creative fields. International sand artist Shri Dashrath Mahant’s huge sand art created on the occasion of Mayurbhanj’s historic Chaitra Festival was enhanced by being placed in the Asia Book of Records and giving the district a unique identity at the international level. It is worth noting that Mayurbhanj’s folk art, tradition and cultural history have been beautifully placed by creating this interesting sand sculpture of 50 feet width and 20 feet height using about eight lakh kilos of sand. Similarly, Indian women’s rugby team captain Parvati Hasda and international rugby player Aarti Murmu were honored for successfully representing the Indian team in the international women’s rugby competition and bringing glory to the country, state and district. District Public Relations Officer Mr. Shishir Kumar Munduya and District Sports Officer and Culture Officer Dr. Shudashish Naik were present in the program.
