
Korukonda, 20.5: A general council meeting of District Utah Journalists Association has been held at Darwin Memorial Degree College premises at Kudumulugumma in Khairput block of Malkangari district. Journalists from different blocks of the district participated in the program organized by the Khairput block branch and discussed the future course of action of the union. On this occasion, the district president of the association, Ashok Mishra, presided over while Ashok Kumar, chairman of Darwin Memorial College, attended as the chief guest. He emphasized the role of media in shaping the society by expressing his views on the duties and responsibilities of journalists. District Secretary B. Srinivas Pan, Treasurer Hrishikesh Shetty and Khairput Block President Prabhakar Suna Manchasin were present. In the meeting, various issues like construction of the union’s own office building, setting up of block level offices in other blocks, strengthening the union and conducting social service work were discussed. This is seen to reflect not only the organizational development of the union, but also its responsibility towards the society. More than 50 members from all 7 blocks of the district were present in the program. The members present were felicitated with rations and bouquets. Union Office Editor Bhagwan Sahu conducted the program while Senior Member and Adviser Balakrishna Pradhan gave vote of thanks. Senior member Jagannath Dallei along with other members contributed to make the program a success.
