
Nuapada: Panchayatiraj and Drinking Water and Rural Development Minister Ravi Narayan Naik of Odisha government visited Nuapada today and reviewed the progress of various development programs and welfare schemes of the district at the local Sadhavana Assembly. Minister Shri Naik called for concerted action to reach the welfare schemes of the government along with infrastructure development to all the stakeholders. In the review meeting, Nuapada MLA Jay Dholakia, Khadial MLA Adhiraj Mohan Manigarahi, District Magistrate Madhusudan Das, Additional District Magistrate Subash Chandra Rait, District Council Chairperson Dolly Majhi, Chief Development Officer Lambodar Dharua and various department officials were present and highlighted the progress and success of their respective departments. In the review meeting, it was informed that during the last 11 years, a total of 1,34,685 houses were sanctioned under the rural housing scheme in 5 blocks of the district, while the construction of 1,18,818 houses was completed and 88 percent success was achieved. There are 11,242 tubewells and sanitary wells in 636 revenue villages of the district. 216 villages targeted under mega water supply project have been fully covered while 420 villages have been covered under MVS, SVS and solar projects. As all 636 villages of the district have been awarded “Har Ghar Jal” certificate, Nuapada ranks top in the state. In the meeting, the minister was apprised about the innovative initiatives taken by the district administration, such as single-use plastic free campaign and the first “wasan bank” in the state. The Minister appreciated these initiatives for getting good public support. The minister said that earlier the people of the district were going to other states in search of work, now the district administration is working to reduce the problem of migrant workers through various innovative measures. He said that the steps being taken through Self Help Groups for the betterment of economically weaker sections are commendable. When it was discussed that there is water problem in some reservoirs of the district, the minister directed to take necessary steps to solve it. On this occasion, Minister Ormas launched the new web portal “Nuapada Hat” for buyers and sellers on behalf of Nuapada. It was revealed that through this web portal, the products of self-help groups, rural entrepreneurs and artisans of the district will get market connection opportunities and the marketing of local products will increase.
