
Malkangiri, 5/4/26: On the fifth day of the celebration of Ordhya Pa, a historic mass run from the local DNK playground to the sports complex has been successfully organized by the district administration and the district sports department. Additional District Administration Somnath attended the program as the Chief Guest and inaugurated it under the direction of District Magistrate Arvind Rajashirke. Speaking on the occasion, Additional District Administrator Shri Pradhan highlighted the valor and culture of Odisha and said that today’s historic race is not just a physical exercise, but a means of connecting with our rich past. The history of Mahameghabahan Ir Kharveh’s victory campaign, the intrepid courage of the last independent emperor Mukund Dev and the transformation of Emperor Ashoka from Chandashoka to Dharmashoka have glorified our soil. On the other hand, Additional District Collector Rajswa Vedbar Pradhan, who attended the program as the guest of honour, emphasized on the protection of Odisha’s heritage and said that Odisha’s art, culture and heritage are world famous. It is our moral responsibility to remember this glorious history and preserve our heritage sites. We pay tribute to our brave warriors and forefathers through this historic run, which will instill patriotism and awareness among the youth. The program was attended by District Council Chief Development and Executive Officer Dashrathi Sarabu, District Information and Public Relations Officer Pramila Majhi, District Sports Officer Muna Turuk, District Labor Officer Purnima Duruka and District Culture Officer Santras Narayan Panda. Similarly, senior officers and jawans of the Border Security Force also participated in this race. Other guests and senior officers present in the program also highlighted the importance of this race and said in one voice that through such programs, interest in the history of Odisha will increase among the local youth and students and it will help in building a disciplined lifestyle. This historic race is a true tribute to our brave warriors. Hundreds of students from various schools and colleges enthusiastically participated in the program organized under the close supervision of District Sports Officer Mr. Turuk. All the staff of the sports department contributed to make it a success.
