Malkangiri, 25/4/26: On the occasion of World Malaria Day 2026, a district level training program has been successfully held with the collaboration of Malkangiri District Health Committee and Piramal Foundation. In this program, extensive discussions were held to create a malaria-free Malkangari and a solid path was prepared. All those present were made aware of the need for early and comprehensive treatment of malaria with emphasis on three main strategies – trace, test and treat. Based on sub-district and panchayat level data, high malaria prone areas were identified and a targeted plan was prepared for the coming year 2026-27. The Health Department and Piramal Foundation officials recommended the use of mosquito repellent, regular awareness and timely blood test for treatment. The program was attended by District Health Officer, Additional District Social Welfare Officer, Additional District Education Officer, Asha workers, teachers, hostel superintendents, nursing students and Piramal Foundation staff. Finally, the program concluded with the recitation of the group pledge for a malaria-free Malkangiri.
