Lanjigarh, 03/05: A one-day refresher training camp was organized on Saturday at Lanjigarh block level to enhance the skills and capabilities of Village Resource Persons (VRPs). In the said camp local VRPs were imparted knowledge and training on social review process. In this camp, Block Social Security Officer, Labor Officer, Block Education Officer and Block Level Social Reviewer participated in the role of Chief Trainer and conducted special sessions on various aspects of social review to the VRPs. Training was given on social review mode under various government schemes, village meetings, complaint registration and investigation process, field inspection system and data collection and preservation of review evidence. The block level social inspector told the camp that ‘VRPs play the role of a bridge between the village and the administration. Their role is very important in ensuring the transparency of government schemes. Such camps give a strong foundation to the confidence and skills of the VRPs. The Block Education Officer said on the occasion that the process of collecting accurate data by VRPs during site inspections and public hearings and raising public awareness at the local level is more effective. Such refresher camps should be organized regularly. BSSO informed that the camp was conducted as per the instructions of Odisha Government and OSAT and in future the village level audit process will be strengthened and more effective. At the end of the camp, the VRPs present expressed the opinion that this one day training was very useful for them and the knowledge gained from it will play an effective role in their review work.
