Date: 26/06/2026 International Anti-Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking Day has been observed in Nehru city on Rikh Khariar Road in collaboration with District Legal Service Authority and Notified Area Council, Khariar Road. An awareness procession and law awareness camp were organized on the occasion. The procession was organized from Amsena Street to Nehru City and in which the members of Women’s Mandal of Khariar Road area, students and friends of Gurukula Ashram participated and sensitized the general public in favor of drug addiction. In the awareness program organized on the occasion, Secretary of District Legal Services Authority Nabanita Dash, Chairperson of NAC of Notified Area Council, Khariar Road Dr. Sonia Jain, Acting Drug Inspector of Nuapada Prasanajit Mohanty, and Deepak Kumar Singh of Bargarh Range, Additional Group Education Officer of Nuapada Cheitaram Naik, Principal of Kul Guru Ashram Kunjdev Acharya, Prajapati Brahmakumari Elohimiya University Kalahandi Zone Chairman Brahma Kumari Sumati Didi, Former Public Prosecutor Trilok Chand Soni, Chief Legal Services Adviser of the Authority Prakash Kathapana Advocate, Deputy Legal Adviser Advocate Anup Sharma, Khariar Road Muslim Jamaat Chairman Muhammad Yakub, Presidents of various local women’s circles and the authority’s voluntary human rights friends (lawyers) participated. On this occasion, Secretary Navnita Das informed the public about the ill effects of addiction on the society, family conflicts caused by addiction, drug abuse, illegal traffic, ways to get rid of addiction, NALSA toll free helpline number 1511 and free legal services.
