Local people are facing severe problem due to shortage of drinking water in the playground of Totopara village of Lebda panchayat under Muribahal block of Balangir district. Although many children, youths and school students come to this playground every day to play and participate in various sports activities, they suffer from the lack of basic water facilities. According to local people, the problem of lack of water in the playground becomes more serious during summer. Children and youth are forced to fetch water from far distances to quench their thirst during games. It also poses a major obstacle to organizing any sports competitions or social events in the area. The villagers said that they have already brought this issue to the attention of the concerned department and administration, but so far no solution has been found. This has led to growing discontent among the people. “Day by day the crowd of people is increasing in the playground, but we are facing problems as there is no drinking water facility. So it is necessary to dig a bore well here soon.” In this situation, the villagers have appealed to the district administration and the concerned departments to provide drinking water facility by digging a new well in Totopara playground soon. This will greatly benefit the children, youth and local people coming here.
