
Nuapada District Administration and the District Social Security and Disability Empowerment Department jointly organized the District-level International Visibility Day-2026 today at the local Path Prant Seva Center. This year the theme of the event was “One in Many – A Struggle for Equality, Self-Pride and Rights”. District Magistrate Madhu Sudan Dash, Upazila Magistrate Mrs. Surmi Soren, Nuapada Block Chairperson Mrs. Taraswari Sahu, Khariar Road NAC Chairperson Dr. Sonia Jain, Komna Block Chairperson Anusuya Kukhar, District Social Security Officer Anant Kumar Hembram, Kinnar Union “Sathi” Chairperson Julie Majhi Major attended the event. In his address, the District Governor said that it is everyone’s responsibility to ensure equal rights, dignity and self-respect to the community by accepting them as part of the society. He mentioned that a collective effort is needed to bring them into the mainstream of society. He said that the district administration will provide all kinds of support to the third gender. Various competitions like jhoti, poochy game, hulahooli, musical chair, dance-music and beauty contest were organized in the program along with various awareness talks. At the end the guests gave away the prizes to the winners. According to the data of the District Social Security and Disability Empowerment Department, a total of 104 relatives have been identified in the district, while 67 people have been issued identity cards and 35 people have been provided with pension facilities. All the rest will soon be included in the government scheme, said the district social welfare officer. Officials of various departments, members of Kinyarwanda community and media representatives were present in the program. Earlier this morning, a grand procession was organized from the district headquarters to Ekta Chacha on the occasion of the district-wide International Visibility Day-2026. It was attended by Additional District Magistrate Subash Chandra Rait, Chief Development Officer Lambodar Dharua, Deputy District Magistrate Surmi Soren, District Council Additional Executive Officer Khamnidhi Bhoi and district level officials.
