
Baripada, (12/06): On the occasion of World Child Labor Prevention Day, a 15-day awareness campaign related to prevention of child labor has started from today in Mayurbhanj district. On this occasion, Additional District Collector Elohim Chandra Nayak inaugurated the ‘Child Labor Prevention Awareness Rath’ and flagged off the awareness procession. This awareness procession, which started from the premises of the District Collector’s office at 8.30 in the morning, went around the main market area of Baripada town and ended at the local Chhau mahida. Through the procession, the public was sensitized about the prevention of child labour, the importance of education and the protection of children’s rights. Deputy Labor Officer Narendra Gaypay, District Labor Officer Niranjan Naik, District Information and Public Relations Officer Shishir Kumar Munduya, District Social Welfare Officer Niharika Mohanty, District Child Protection Officer Mamata Biswal, Baripada Assistant Labor Officer Panmani Soren, representatives of various voluntary organizations, members of labor unions, media representatives, police personnel and other government officials were present in the program. During the campaign period, the awareness chariot will tour different areas of the district to sensitize the public about the ill effects of child labour, the need for education and the collective responsibility of the society to ensure a safe and dignified life for every child. The district labor officer Mr. Naik said that the 15-day program will be conducted more extensively to create a child labor-free mayorship. Apart from this, special rescue and rescue campaigns will also be conducted to identify, rescue and rehabilitate child labourers.
