Nuapada: Urban Public Relations and Citizen Partnership program has been organized by the notified Achal Parishad, Khariar Road at Ward No. 7, Kurrumunda. Firingia, 13/6 (Salmon Bindhani): The villagers of Sumerband Panchayat in Firingia block of Kandhamal district have submitted a demand letter to the MLA, demanding the solution of various public problems. The claim was handed over through MLA representative Mr. Prashant Kumar Comp. According to information, Bajdi village of Sumerband panchayat has been facing many basic problems for a long time. Demand for construction of roads especially from Rabilada to Temangi in the Pradhan Mantri Gram Road Yojana is strong. Similarly, after the closure of Bajdi Primary School, as there is no other school in the nearby area, the students have to travel about 6 km away to study. The villagers have complained that there are many problems in education. Demanding a quick solution to all these problems, the villagers invited MLA representative Mr. Prashant Kumar Comp to the village. He visited the village and listened to the grievances of the local people and accepted the demand letter for the MLA. On this occasion, many villagers were present including the village chief Chakra Pradhan, Chitrasen Pradhan, Ravidem Behera, Iran Pradhan, youth social activist Chitrasen Dalbehera. The intervention of the concerned departments and public representatives has been demanded for quick resolution of the issues mentioned in the demand letter.

Malkangiri, 13/6/26: Under the direction of the Election Commission of India, Malkangiri district administration has organized a comprehensive and marathon Special Brief Voter List Revision (SIR-2026) awareness program in preparation for the sweep. The administration has launched a massive campaign to involve 100 per cent eligible citizens of the tribal communities living in the most remote and hilly areas of the district in the democratic electoral process. Special attention has been given to the people of the Banda and Diblik tribal tribes and the Koya tribal communities who are far from the mainstream of society and made them aware of the right to vote. These special awareness camps have been organized in various village panchayats of Khairput and Madhya blocks of the district and the local residents have been encouraged to raise their voices. This mega awareness campaign was conducted under the keen leadership and supervision of Malkangari Upazilapal and District Sweep Nodal Officer Duryodhan Bhoi. In this field outreach program, many senior administrative officers of district and block level visited remote tribal areas and directly interacted with local people. Khairput Block Development Officer and Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO) and Kudumulugumma Tehsildar and Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO) participated in the program and highlighted various aspects of voter list preparation and revision. He was accompanied by Padiya Block Development Officer and ARO Ashwini Kumar Mohapatra, Malkangari Assistant District Magistrate and ARO K. Ashok Chakraborty and Assistant District Collector Ajay Mandangi of the Upazilapal’s office were present and explained in simple terms how every eligible person can include his name in the voter list. The project director of Mudulipada-based Banda Development Corporation along with his entire team also joined the campaign to create widespread awareness among the Banda tribe. Taking into account the language and culture of the primitive tribes, they were made aware of the value of each of their votes in a democracy. Officials present at the camp gave information through demo on the process of registration of new voter names, deletion of names of dead or transferred voters and correction of mistakes in the voter card. The local tribes appreciated this concerted and strong effort of the Malkangari district administration and they all agreed to verify their names in the coming days. The Sweep Nodal Officer informed that the main objective of the administration is to ensure that no eligible citizen is deprived of his democratic rights.

Firingia: 13/06/2026. (Salmon Bindhani) On Friday, June 12, Adivasi Maha Sangh Odisha (AMO) Kandhamal Branch, Kui Samaj Seva Samiti Phulwali and Kui Samaj Youth Council workers demanded an impartial investigation into the suspicious death of Gokul Kaher, a 2nd year student of Nebodai School at Thupaju near Phulwali, Kandhamal district. The officer met Mr. Ramendra Prasad and issued the claim. According to information, Gokul Kaher, son of Suresh Kaher and Kumudini Kaher, resident of Titheripala village of Quirimanda village panchayat under Firingia block Gochhapada police station, was found dead under suspicious circumstances in a hostel room of Navodaya School on April 20. Regarding the incident, the family demanded that a case be initiated on the basis of the murder charge at the Phulbali Sadar police station, but it has been alleged that the case has not been initiated despite the passage of 45 days. However, the organization expressed its displeasure as no action was taken despite this. Later on June 12, they met the district security officer and demanded an independent and thorough investigation of the incident, strict legal action against the culprits and compensation of Rs 50 lakh to the victim’s family. After hearing the complaints of the victim’s family and the representatives of the organization, District Security Officer Mr. Ramendra Prasad has given a firm promise that the incident will be thoroughly investigated. Firingia, 13/06 (Salmon Bindhani): While the central and state governments are connecting villages to villages through various schemes for overall development of rural areas, some villages are still deprived of paved roads. On the other hand, while the leaders of the ruling party are talking about development, the basic facilities of development cannot be reached to the people. The reason behind this may be due to departmental negligence. Many remote areas are still not accessible by road, so the people there are living dependent on dirt and mud roads. Villages like Dahingia, Dadilai, Mahlingia, Karukja, Vayabali and Gazurughati travel on this road, which is about 4 km from Kaduraha Street, throughout the year. According to the villagers, this road is the only hope for fetching allowances, rations, going to the panchayat or block office and other urgent work. Especially on a rainy day, the roads become muddy and slippery, making travel very difficult. Many times, it is becoming difficult to even walk, not to mention cycling. As a result, other government facilities, including emergency health services, do not reach villages on time. In this context, the residents of the area have been demanding for a long time that the road from Kaduraha Street to Karumkaja and Gazurughati should be covered under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Road Scheme (PMGSY). However, despite repeated demands, it is alleged that no positive steps have been taken by the administration. Therefore, the residents of the area have demanded that the administration should immediately look into this problem and include the said road in the Prime Minister’s Road Plan and start the construction work.

The World Child Labor Prohibition Day has been observed in the District Community Hall at Khadial Block under the auspices of the District Legal Services Authority and the District Labor Department. Apart from this, an awareness camp has been held regarding the Prevention of Child Labor Act, Asha Yojana of the National Legal Services Authority and the important judgment of the Hon’ble Supreme Court in Seva v. Union of India (2024). First of all, Mr. Umi Daniel, a nationally and internationally renowned expert on labor and labor movement and former director of Aide et Action International, joined the virtual media and gave his speech. Baripada – 12/06/2026 Like every year, this year too Odisha Blood Center, Baripada Anukuliya has been raised in the “World Blood Donor Day – 2026” grand ceremony in the premises of District Head Hospital. Malkangiri, 12/6/26: Malkangiri district level ‘Mukhyamantri Annapurna Yojana’ has been launched in a grand ceremony at the local culture building. At the state level, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has launched this scheme at the IDCO exhibition area in Bhubaneswar, while it has been implemented in Malkangari district in parallel. Malkangiri MLA Narsingh Madkami attended the program as the chief guest. Highlighting the importance of the scheme, MLA Shri Madkami said, “Mukhyamantri Annapurna Yojana is a landmark initiative of the state government for the development of the poor and underprivileged. Distribution of smart ration cards and smartphones will empower people in remote areas digitally and no beneficiary will be deprived of their rights. We are determined to extend this facility to every eligible family in the district.” Special Development Council Chairman Ganga Sodi, MP Representative Sanjay Sarkar, Additional District Administration Somnath Pradhan, Chief Development Officer and Executive Officer Dasharthi Sarabu, District Social Welfare Officer Suchita Panda were present in the program under the supervision of District Collector Arvind Rajashirke. Emphasizing overall administrative preparation and women empowerment in the district, the guests said in their speech, “The main objective of this scheme is to bring transparency in government schemes and deliver services directly to the people. Through smartphones, women can connect to the digital world and get information about all the welfare schemes of the government easily, which will bring a huge change in their lifestyle.” During the ceremony, Chief Development Officer and Executive Officer Mr. Sarabu delivered the welcome speech while District Supply Officer Lingaraj Behera finally thanked everyone. District Information and Public Relations Officer Pramila Majhi conducted the forum successfully. It is worth noting that 5,18,679 members of 1,59,511 families have been registered under the National Food Security Act and State Food Security Scheme in Malkangiri district. 5 kg of rice is being provided free of cost to all the beneficiaries every month and for this a total of 25,933.00 quintals of rice has been harvested every month. Now for the months of April, May and June, this rice distribution process will be implemented through ‘Mukhyamantri Annapurna Yojana’. Under this scheme, new smart ration cards have been distributed by the district supply department and smartphones have been distributed by the women and child development department. Beneficiaries can easily get their extra ration from ration shops through smart ration card. The service will be available through a total of 117 Affordable Shop Centers (including 108 Gram Panchayat Centres, 8 Women’s Self Help Groups and 1 Maitri Shop) in the district. The program was attended by a large number of stakeholders including all the employees of District Supply, District Community Welfare and District Council Offices.
