    Thanks to the timely intervention of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), a poor, destitute woman suffering from blood cancer has managed to get an Ageusman card. The cooperation of the authorities has now come as a relief to the families concerned. Patients facing problems: It was revealed that Ms. Pankajini Patel of Chandopla (Pendrawan) village under Komna police station of Nuapada district was suffering from Leukemia for a long time and she had to go to the hospital frequently for regular treatment and her family was very poor and was facing severe financial crisis. Even though he knew that he could get free medical facilities under the government’s Ayushman Bharat scheme, he could not get the card for a long time due to lack of knowledge and not understanding the necessary paperwork (documentation) process. Prompt intervention of the authority: As Mrs. Patel was bedridden, her husband Laxeshwar Patel, on June 11, 2026, received a message from some sources and finally approached the Nuapada District Legal Services Authority and requested them to provide assistance in applying for Ausman Card. Realizing the importance of the issue, the authority’s secretary Navnita Das immediately intervened and directed the legal counsel Nikhil Singh Kshatriya to provide all legal assistance to the patient. Card Prepared Successfully: On the instructions of the Secretary, Juraj Mitra Mr. Kshatriya was taken to the Nuapada District Ayushman Card Coordinator’s office in Lakshwar. By preparing all the necessary application documents and expediting the government process, the Ayushman card was successfully produced in the name of Mrs. Panjini Patel on that same day (last 11th June 2026). Through this card, he now has access to various medical facilities and financial assistance under the Ayushman Bharat Yojana. He thanked the District Legal Services Authority for this. On the 20th at around 11:15 AM, the President and Prime Minister will visit Pahadpur village in Mayurbhanj District. Later, both the leaders will offer prayers at Holy Santali Jahera and Ho Jahera, Abhiyan Center and Pahadpur School. The visit is expected to highlight ongoing efforts to strengthen educational opportunities, skill development and socio-economic empowerment in tribal areas and rural areas. The theme of the program is “Development trends across Odisha”. During the programme, various developmental projects worth over Rs 47,600 crore will be inaugurated and foundation laid. Along with this, the Prime Minister will also address the gathering on the occasion. During the event, projects in key sectors including energy, industrial infrastructure, road connectivity, drinking water, health, education, tourism and irrigation will be inaugurated and foundation laid. These projects are expected to strengthen infrastructure, improve connectivity, increase energy security and create employment opportunities across Odisha. Reflecting the Prime Minister’s vision of inclusive and holistic development, these initiatives will further accelerate growth in tribal and rural areas and spread the benefits of development to every corner of the state. Major projects to be inaugurated include the 600 MW Upper Indravati Pumped Storage Project and Phase-II Expansion Project of IB Thermal Power Station. These projects will enhance energy security and support economic growth in Odisha. The foundation stone of the Bharat Coal Gasification and Chemicals Limited (BCGCL) project will also be laid at Lakhanpur in Jharsuguda district. It will promote clean utilization of domestic coal resources, reduce import dependency and create new industries and employment opportunities in the region. Among the projects to be laid foundation stone are a 300 TPD Source-Segregated Municipal Solid Waste-Based Compressed Biogas Plant in Bhubaneswar, a bridge over the Vadjodi river providing direct connectivity between Cuttack and Bhubaneswar, widening and strengthening of the Dhalpur-Harbhanga road in Boudh district and four-laning of a section of NH-353 from Nuapada to Ghatipada, Kusumdihi. These include Megalift Irrigation Project, IGNOU Regional Center and Indoor Badminton Complex at Rairangpur. Similarly, a 300-bed district headquarters hospital building will be inaugurated in Boudh, along with 24 Atal bus stands and 9 automated testing centers in various districts of Odisha. These projects are expected to strengthen healthcare and public transport infrastructure in the state. Other important projects to be inaugurated include Nayagarh Town Bypass on NH-57, underground pipeline portion of Kusumi Smart Irrigation Project, Jakhpura-Jajpur Kenjhar Road-Beitrani Road Multi-Tracking Project, Hindod Road-Meramandali Multi-Tracking Project, Sports Complex and Tribal Research Center at Rairangpur.     Baripada, (19/06): In collaboration with Odisha State Disaster Management Authority, Bhubaneswar and under the supervision of District Disaster Management Authority, Mayurbhanj, Disaster Management Mock Exercise has been successfully conducted in 10 multipurpose flood shelters of the district. The main objective of the exercise was to assess the effectiveness of preparedness, coordination and response systems during natural and man-made disasters. This year, an artificial disaster situation was created based on the “severe floods and landslides” scenario provided by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The rescue team demonstrated evacuation procedures, search and rescue operations, first aid and emergency medical services. The emergency communication system between the responding agencies was also tested while the injured were shifted to designated health centers. The fire service, police, health department, Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), civil defense volunteers and local community members actively participated in the mock exercise. The entire program was successfully completed with the active support of the management and monitoring committee members/members of the 10 shelters and the nodal NGOs such as Spardha, Resolve, VARD, SECURE, FORD, Aadhaar, Aadhaar, Balaji, Shakti Sacha and PRIDE. At district level Assistant Collector of Emergency Department Mr. Tapas Kumar Mahanth, District Project Officer Mr. Jagbandhu Mohanty and State Project Officer Mr. Sutanu Kumar Thakur as State Observer observed the practice. They reviewed response times, resource mobilization and inter-agency coordination, as well as emphasized the need for group collaboration and regular mock exercises for disaster risk reduction. On this occasion the participants were sensitized about disaster preparedness, emergency helpline numbers and safety protocols to be followed in case of emergency. A debriefing session was held at the end of the exercise, where the achievements, challenges and potential areas of future improvement of the exercise were discussed. Officials said that such practice is effective in strengthening disaster response capacity and ensuring public safety in real emergencies. It is worth noting that before the mock practice District level preparatory meeting was held on 16.06.2026 and table top exercise was held in 25 blocks of the district on 18.06.2026.

A high-level review meeting has been held in the conference room at Satiguda Eco Park. In this meeting, the Chief Secretary Shri Pradhan inquired about the progress of the projects of various departments and gave strict instructions to the concerned developers to finish all the remaining works as soon as possible. Nabarangpur Lok Sabha MP Balabhadra Majhi, Malkangiri MLA Narsingh Madkami, District Magistrate Arvind Rajshirke, Additional District Magistrate Rajsab Vedbar Pradhan, Bankhand Officer Sai Kiran, Chief Development Officer and Executive Officer Dasharthi Sarabu and Praktan Chittarakonda MLA Dumbru Shisha Major were present in this meeting. In the meeting, recruitment of health department staff and medical system were reviewed in the district. Paved roads will be constructed under Pradhan Mantri Janman Yojana. With the successful implementation of Subhadra Yojana in the district, it is aimed to create Lakpati Didi by empowering women through the power of the mission. Chief Secretary Mr. Pradhan joined the Swachh Bharat mission in the morning at Malkangari City Bus Stand and Mallikeshwar Shiva Temple. He visited the agricultural projects, mega projects, various bridges, mega drinking water projects (Mariwada and Kiang), MV7 Bridge, dams and canals and expressed his satisfaction with the work. Similarly, the Chief Secretary visited the airport and informed that the airstrip will be operational soon. The land acquisition for the Jaipur-Malkangiri railway project has reached the final stage and the main construction work will start from next year, he said. This year, more than 15 lakh quintals of additional paddy has been purchased from more than 41 thousand farmers in the district and input subsidy of Rs. 800 is being provided to the farmers. Along with this, the government will provide 4 cents of land in rural areas and 2 cents in urban areas under the Poor Welfare Scheme. After the meeting Nabarangpur MP Balabhadra Majhi said that the economic and social situation of the district will be strengthened in the coming days. Malkangiri is a ‘District of Potential’ and will soon be ranked number 1 in terms of development as a prosperous district.

    Nuapada: A district-level workshop on organic farming and progressive agriculture under Odisha government’s two-year public relations program ‘Development Trends, Odisha Sara’ was held today at the local National College Auditorium under the chairmanship of District Collector Madhusudan Das. Nuapada block president Tarashwari Sahu, vice president Dilip Nirlamkar, district farmers’ morcha president Ratanlal Chandrakar, district level officers of various departments, progressive farmers, agricultural entrepreneurs and media representatives were present in the program. The workshop discussed in detail the need for natural and organic farming, protecting soil health, water conservation, reducing dependence on chemical fertilizers and pesticides, climate-friendly farming practices and scientific agricultural management. Officers and experts from the College of Agriculture, Agricultural Research and Technology Transfer Center (ARTS), Agricultural Science Centre, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Watershed Development Departments briefed about the various schemes of their respective departments, the potential of agriculture-based income generation and how farmers can benefit from these schemes. Promotion of organic farming in horticultural crops and benefits of soil testing were also highlighted. Addressing the gathering, District Collector Mr. Dash said that to make agriculture profitable and sustainable, emphasis should be placed on organic and natural farming. He appealed to the farmers to increase their income by cultivating pulses, oilseeds, vegetables and other non-irrigated crops in Rabi season. “Let’s work together to grow organically and maintain good soil health.” He also advised the farmers to reduce the use of chemical fertilizers and increase the use of nano urea.     A meeting of the Nuapada District Road Safety Committee has been held today in the conference room of the district headquarters under the chairmanship of District Collector Madhusudan Das. At the beginning of the meeting, District Transport Officer Sharmila Maharana welcomed everyone and presented the agenda of the meeting and the compliance report of the previous meeting. The main objectives of the task force are to strengthen security on national highways, remove illegal encroachments, prevent illegal parking and ensure a coordinated enforcement system. The District Magistrate directed the Executive Officers of Nuapada, Khariar and Khariar Road NACs to procure cranes to remove illegally parked vehicles from roadsides. Similarly, he directed all Tahsildars to take action against illegal dams built on government land on the side of the national highway. From January to June 17 this year, 3159 cases of driving without a helmet and 147 cases of driving under the influence of alcohol have been conducted. Only in the month of May, 495 e-challans were issued by the district transport department while 153 driving licenses were suspended. It was reported that a revenue of 12 lakh 75 thousand rupees was collected in the month of May in connection with various traffic violations.
